Privacy Policy for Solune
Effective date: October 10, 2026 Developer (data controller): Boris Spiro, individual developer Contact: spiroboris91@icloud.com
Solune (“the App”) is designed to work without an account and to keep your data on your device. This policy explains what is collected, why, and your rights under the GDPR, the UK GDPR, the CCPA/CPRA and similar laws.
1. Data you create in the App
Everything you enter in the App (such as places you save, alert settings) is stored locally on your device. We do not have access to it. If you delete the App, this data is deleted with it.
1a. Location, city search and weather
- Location. When you tap “Use my location”, the App asks iOS for your location once (While Using the App) and uses it on your device to calculate sun and moon times. The coordinates are stored only on your device. The App never tracks your location in the background.
- City names and search. To name your location and to search for cities, the App sends the coordinates or the search text to Apple Maps (MapKit). Apple’s privacy policy applies: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
- Cloud cover (Pro). To show cloud cover at sunset, the App sends the coordinates of the selected place to Apple Weather (WeatherKit). Apple does not use this data to identify you. Sun and moon times themselves are calculated entirely on your device.
2. Purchases
Subscriptions and purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. Apple handles payment details; we never see your card number. We receive an anonymous transaction record from Apple to unlock the features you paid for. See Apple’s privacy policy at https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/.
3. No analytics, no tracking
This version of the App contains no analytics or advertising SDK and sends no usage events. To check for a newer version and to load a small settings file, the App requests public files from Apple (iTunes Search API) and from our website (spiroba.github.io); these requests carry no personal data beyond what any web request does (your IP address, seen by the server and not stored by us).
4. Crash and diagnostic data
Apple may share aggregated crash and performance data with us if you have enabled “Share with App Developers” in your iOS settings. We use it only to fix bugs.
5. Notifications
If you allow notifications, the App schedules local reminders on your device (for example, a reminder before a free trial ends). No notification data leaves your device.
6. What we do not do
- We do not sell or share your personal information (as defined by the CCPA/CPRA).
- We do not use your data for advertising.
- We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. The App is not directed to children.
7. Data retention
Local data stays on your device until you delete it or the App.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, to withdraw consent, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Because the App sends us no personal data and local data never leaves your device, most requests can be fulfilled by deleting the App. For anything else, email spiroboris91@icloud.com and we will respond within 30 days.
9. Changes
We will post any changes on this page and update the effective date. Material changes will be announced in the App.
